“This review is long overdue, but Steve’s kindness has not been forgotten.
Steve is not only the best when it comes to servicing my BMW, he’s just an all around good person. He is honest and forthright in his analysis of any issue I have ever had with my car and I trust him implicitly (can’t believe I’m saying that about an auto mechanic based upon my previous experiences with others in this field!). He uses genuine BMW parts and really knows his stuff.
After a horrible experience ( long story) I had elsewhere, I took my car to him to inspect. As I had expected, I had been really taken advantage of - but worse than I had thought. He explained and showed me everything. Along with other issues, the BMW brakes he had installed just months before had been replaced with cheap Chinese brakes and pads. Before leaving he even said he’d better check the lug nuts just to be safe. Sure enough, several were dangerously loose. I learned a tough lesson, but Steve’s wise counsel and understanding helped when I needed it most.”

“I am very, very pleased with my experience here! In the almost 6 years I've owned my MBZ, I've had the best car service experience at Bavarian Auto House... and it's not even close! Steve is a wonderful person, and I appreciate his transparency in his explanations and what he and his crew do. This is unlike taking my car to the dealer, where they claim something needs to be done (but don't offer much of an explanation or details). Steve explained everything to me succinctly and to the point. I knew what services were being performed and why they were being performed. He only mentions the services that your car needs and will not upsell you. How's that for a breath of fresh air! He even showed me the new parts that were going to replace the old parts (and also the replaced parts afterwards). As some of the other reviews mentioned, don't judge a book by its cover! This place might not look all that great from the outside, but don't let that keep you from making the call. The quality of service is excellent and that's all that matters. Although honest mechanics are a dying breed, a few of them still exist (with Steve definitely being one of them). I highly recommend Steve and Bavarian Auto House. One of the easiest 5 star ratings I have ever given, and I will be back! Oh, and I should add that my car runs really well after the service. Thanks, Steve!”

“Although I've never done business with this auto repair place (not yet), I found that the owner Steve was very responsive to my questions and gave me sound and honest advice. “Fast and great service. I had my thrust arm bushings go out on my 7 series and the dealership claimed that even though i would need to replace parts that are covered under warranty the bushing were not so they wanted me to pay $2000 for some bushings and control arms. Steve came in at almost half the price with the parts coming from the dealership. Would definitely recommend giving him a call first.”

I am a long time BMW 3 series car guy, who typically turns my own wrench, but this time, I didn't have the free time to replaced my failed starter. “WoW needed a BMW battery replaced ASAP called all my local 5-star shops and nobody could do it right away. “Had the pleasure of working with Steve on my 2014 BMW 435i. This was the first time my vehicle was serviced outside of the dealer so naturally, I was a bit nervous.

“I did a DIY headgasket on my wife BMW, the car would only crank and not start after. Looked up a repair shop near by with good reviews called Bavarian Auto, spoke to Steve. He was about to leave the shop for the day and said he could drop by and take a look at the car, he arrived on time and provided guidance (Im sure he normally would not do this). Unfortunately due to bad weather (Rain) I still have been unable to finish my repair and Steve had to close his shop for a few week due to the Covid19. Basically if i cant fix it my self i'll have to wait. Will update this review if i end up using his services. 5 Star for Steve for awesome service even thought I did all the work JK.”

“Initially picked up a 2005 Z4 with the service engine light on and needed some minor repairs. Due to convenience factor I took it to couple of local indy BMW shops around my house and noone would even take a look at the car with some sort of diagnostic fee of $75 or $100 bucks or like my car got COVID 19 or some%$#@.

I end up calling Steve and not just he was nice enough to talk/explain things to me, he asked me to drive the car over... so he can OBD it and find out what's going on with no charge. He even assisted me in passing smog and helped repair thermostat, replaced a belt and typical liquid moly oil change.

I tell ya there's not a lot of honest and integrity mechanics left and they advertised like they are honest and reliable but don't what to help without showing the wallet first. I was very satisfied with his service and not just be a returning client but also posted him on our BMW z4 forum already which have 3200 SoCal members. Look no further as this place is honest, integrity and priced very fair, thank you.”

“I have not had my vehicle serviced here yet. I requested a quote for a pre-purchase inspection of a Mercedes C63S AMG. Steve responded quickly and thoroughly. “Driving my Kid to school on the 91 freeway today my GTI misfired and the Check Engine light flashed a few times; I managed to get my Kid to school and drove over to Steve at Bavarian. I had NO appointment and Steve was fully-booked.

“Talk about fast responses and quick appointments, I needed an oil change for my Cayenne and Steve tried to make a convenient appointment for me over Yelp messaging and text messages because I wasn't able to make a phone call at the time. He is very accommodating from making the appointment to the appointment itself. I was in and out of there exactly an hour and his quotes were extremely accurate meaning he'll tell you what you need and that's it. He's also very fun to interact with.”

He was able to schedule me for the day after I called and gave me a quote over the phone. “I have a bmw 3 series and during my last oil change at one of those quick drive thru places I learned I need to find a shop that specializes in BMW. Found this place through yelp and when I called after work he squeezed me in same day. I paid less for my oil change than I did at the previous place, plus the owner told me they didn't even use the right filter and oil. He showed me the filters they use and i could see it was genuine bmw. It took less than 25 minutes as well. The waiting room is tiny and awkward but I just walked to a store next door to kill time. The owner is a bit of the wall, in like a robin williams kind of way lol. I could feel the improvement in my car as soon as I drove it. I would go here again.”

“I've used Bavarian Auto House five or six times in the past three years for repairs to my 2008 BMW 525I, and I realize, to my chagrin, that I've neglected to write any reviews about the great work Steve and Ernesto have done on my car. In 2016 my 5 Series needed lots of help with some major and minor repairs (valve cover and oil filter housing gaskets, eccentric shaft sensor, struts), work the guys did promptly and perfectly, for a fair price. Since then Steve has done other repairs, always finding the problem and fixing it right. He'll bring you into the shop to show you what's wrong, what he's doing to fix it, and, even if you trust him and aren't interested, he insists on showing you the parts he's replaced. One time, Steve improved my Beamer beyond BMW's OEM specs: ever since I bought the car new, the front brake pads had constantly thrown off clouds of black brake dust, making the wheels a real nuisance to clean. When I mentioned this, Steve eliminated the problem by installing different brake pads. Brake dust gone completely! In 2016, during a recall repair, the BMW dealer gave me a list of half a dozen items that they “recommended for repair,” totaling $3,500. After looking at the list, Steve gave me his price for the items that did need repair, and, as you might guess, his prices were below dealer estimates. Then Steve advised me that two of the items on the list didn't need to be done at all. And, for one other item on the list that the dealer quoted $335, Steve replaced for $65! One morning last week I found myself, exhausted and not feeling well after some uncomfortable medical treatments, looking at my car in a hospital parking lot with a coolant leak, really at a loss how to proceed. With no friends or family members able to help at that time, I felt up the proverbial creek. I called Steve, describing the problem, hoping he might tell me I could limp the car a few miles to my house and deal with the problem later. Since he was able to diagnose (over the phone) that the cooling system wasn't losing a lot of water, he immediately advised me not to try to drive home but to obtain some water, which I was able to do, and keep filling up the radiator as I drove the car the four or five miles to his shop. Once I got there, he began work on the car almost immediately and finished the repair within a couple of hours, turning what was looking to be a pretty awful day into a much better one. I can't praise Steve enough. He's always been friendly, helpful, responsive, and determined to repair my car quickly and accurately. A hell of a nice guy, he goes the extra mile and is as honest as they come, and I trust him completely. My car now runs much better than it did three years ago. I would never take any German car to any other shop. Ever. I'm a customer here for life.”

“These guys are legit. I just got a bmw and was hesitant to call these guys because I knew they were the best in the business so I thought they would also be super expensive. I went to different bmw specialists and they all tried to give me the work-around. They had me worrying about issues I didn't even know my car had and tried to charge me an arm and a leg for unnecessary repairs. So after talking to several mechanics I couldn't trust, I finally called these guys to help me out. Steve was upfront and honest with me about my car. “This review has been a long time coming.
I was driving one day to an appointment and my car suddenly felt extremely funny. In a panic I searched for the closest auto repair shop.It brought me here. The owner was one of, if not the nicest person I've ever met. He saw how stressed I was about my car and missing my appointment and, even though they were about to close, he took my car in and he himself drove me to my appointment in Huntington Beach. I ubered back to the auto shop after the appointment and, as I was on my way there, I called and asked if my car was drive-able because I had a job interview the next morning in Laguna Nigel. He told me that the shop was unfortunately closing so they wouldn't be able to take care of my car that day and advised me that it was not okay to be driven. He then went above and beyond again and allowed me to borrow one of his cars so that I could go to my interview! I will forever be grateful to him. I had just moved to the area, so I needed to find employment quickly and life had been hard on me lately. I had just bought this car because someone ran a red light totaling my previous vehicle. Although my car is not German, (Nissan Murano) they still did amazing work and had my car back to me early the next morning. And because of his generosity, I was able to make it to my doctor's appointment, job interview, and salon appointment (Which as any lady could attest, takes sometimes weeks to attain).

“What can I say? This place has kept my 2002 Mercedes-Benz C240 running beautifully. I feel that the prices are fair considering that Mercedes are expensive to maintain and repair. I have been going here for the last 12 years in which time the original owner transferred the business to his nephew. The service has remained high quality and the prices remain fair. In addition to regular maintenance I have had many repairs including windshield wipers, two broken door handles, a broken cup holder, and leaks under the hood. Each time the repairs were completed in one day and the communication was great. When my car is ready they call me and don't make me wait until late in the day to go pick it up.”

Steve squeezed me in between appointments and got me taken care of in under an hour. For my situation he replaced a starter in my 2007 BMW 328i and diagnosed an issue with my air conditioning I didn't end up replacing due to cost. It was a value service since wherever he could he was fixing extra or topping off something which I appreciated.

“First time visiting this repair shop because I had problem with the driver side door and had to replace actuator. So I called this shop yesterday and made an appointment for today at 9:30 AM. When I arrived at the shop, the owner was not at the shop but worker who's working came up to me what problem I had with the car. I told him that I made an appointment at 9:30 AM had to get my driver side door actuator replaced. Then the worker first thought that I made an appointment to replace driver side window.

Anyways he told me repair for door actuator replacement will take a bit of a long time and asked me if I have someone that will pick me up. I replied I will stay until the car is fully repaired and the worker directed me to guest waiting room and waited about three hours until the car was fully repaired. After three hours the owner of the store came to the guest area and told me the repair is complete and apologized for coming late and he gave me discounts on the repair job that they did with the actuator replacement!

I would definitely come back when I have any other problem come up on my car and I recommend this repair shop after your car's warranty has expired.”

“My 2006 BMW 325i wouldn't start a couple weeks back. It acted like it had epilepsy or something. Electronics were kind of going nuts, every dash emergency symbol was flashing, check engine light was on, my wipers were going back and forth and could not be stopped.

I called up Steve and gave him the summary, all he knew is it wasn't starting and it instantly became his mission to get my car back to running condition. It was an odd problem that took a while to diagnose, however Steve capped the diagnosis fee at I believe $150. Took his team almost a full day to find the issue. I thought this was fair, I know BMW service ain't cheap. Turned out I had a faulty IBS sensor (negative battery terminal cable) and he fixed it for a fair price, cheaper than what the dealer would have done for me. In the meantime during this he identified some other issues I was suspicious about and was very cool and shared with me the price and process of fixing them.

It's been about 2 weeks since I paid him and drove off his lot. Car running great like it used to (I wait a minimum of 2 weeks before giving a positive review on things like this). After let's say 2 days the dude (Steve) shot me a text to check if everything was running properly. Solid guy, I'm definitely giving him another call whenever I need more maintenance work done.. which I'm positive I will.

This is really a review of the last 30 years. When my 1983 Porsche 944 was acting up back in 1985, Joe, the then-owner of Bavarian Auto House, diagnosed the problem for free and recommended I get the oxygen sensor fixed under the extended emissions warrantee instead of paying him to fix it. This started a long, long relationship with this shop and my 944. Sadly, now at 311,000 miles, the 944 needs some major surgery, Joe retired, and this shop cannot service this old car. Sad. But time marches on. I cannot expect a shop to support at old niche car forever. Anyway, thank you Joe. And best wishes to Steve. I hope you run this shop just as well for the next 30 years.”

Steve is hilarious and super friendly and he is up front and fair about pricing and gives good and honest advice about what needs to be done. “If you're in the North OC area and need your BMW worked on, this is the place to go. Steve is an intense character but he's honest and gets the job done right. The prices are definitely reasonable and the quality is great. They don't use cheap parts here. Service was quick and pain free.

I've been here twice already (and that says a lot!). First time was for transmission fluid change and the second was for differential fluid change. Both, times I've left satisfied and happy with the work done.

Added bonus - My service came with a loaner 525i so I could get back to work. Steve showed me hands on where my engine oil leak was coming from and quickly fixed the problem for a fraction of what BMW quoted me. Steve also pointed out a few maintenance issues that if go unfixed, could lead to a more costly repair down the road. We hooked up my e46 to the diagnostic machine and found a bad o2 sensor which was causing a rough idle. We replaced that and now my car runs great!! I will be back for all my repairs and preventive maintenance needs.

“Two people you need most in California is a good lawyer and an honest mechanic. I am glad I found Joe and his team 5 years ago. My father is a mechanic and I grew up learning what to look out for, so when I finally found this place I knew it was legit.

My BMW is about 10 yrs old now and random things always come up. When I took it in to replace my left tail light, Joe told me nothing was wrong with it and sent me home without charge. I soon found out it was in recall. Other mechanics would 'fix' it Joe said it wasn't a problem. That's trust.

So when I came by for my oil change, I found out Joe will be retiring. While I am sad to see him go I was assured that everyone else will stay. So far so good guys”

“Been meaning to write this review for a while- so I went back to Steve et al a few months ago after my first great experience w/my Honda (which was a great experience) and brought them my Toyota 4Runner. I have a 2003 4Runner w/low mileage and wanted a 'sanity check' on how it was doing. After looking at everything, Steve said everything looks good and nothing needed to be done, not until a few more thousand miles at least. How about that? Never left an auto repair place without paying anything...Steve even poured windshield fluid for me into the 4Runner which he said was the only thing that was low. He even printed an invoice that showed $0.00 he has OCD with documentation). Love this place. And Steve, last time I saw you, you had a short buzz haircut. You look better with longer hair man. “First off, I want to throw in a disclosure and let you know this is only for the customer service, knowledge, and equipment available at this shop. I do most of my own work with the limitation of engine rebuilding and such but not too long ago I was working a 525i and after replacing the abs module the lights on the dash would not go away.

I did a quick search and found this place, pulled up into the small driveway and my uncertainties about the location I had arrived at were soon gone when I met one of the workers (name forgotten sorry) and he said he would erase my brake and abs light code shortly with his machine.

I stuck around for about 30 minutes while he got around to me and in that time I realized how much these guys know their stuff and how helpful their equipment is in diagnosing European cars. He had people going in and out of there and all of his diagnosis were spot on.

The time arrived when it was time to plug in the reader to the 525s diagnosis port, I was shown all the monitors the reader was displaying and he went on to erase the module code. I was very impressed and satisfied with the attention given at this shop and their positive attitudes. I haven't needed their services again yet but this would be the place I'd recommend to anyone with a bimmer or other European car. Knowing how different these cars' needs can be, take it to someone who specializes in the field; Bavarian Auto House.”

“I took my 99 BMW 323CI for an O2 sensor replace since it won't come off of the exhaust. Great service and it was quick.
Since it was my first time there, Steve scan the car for fault codes and let me know what was wrong with the car. I usually do small jobs myself, but whatever jobs I can't do myself, I will take my car to the Bavarian Auto House.”

My car was done by lunchtime and it ran perfectly afterwards. Steve and his brother are very attentive, will crack jokes to make you feel comfortable and really know how keep a customer. “I'M DEFINITELY COMING BACK!!!!

Steve was very knowledgeable and honest when it came to my 2008 BMW 328i. My dealer gave me a laundry list of things that needed to be fixed on my car (~$3500). I gave the list to Steve and he told me i didn't need any of the service just yet. WHUT?!?! and here, i was thinking about selling my beloved BMW!! I just needed routine brake fluid change and he gave me a very good price on that one!

Even before he took my name down, he ran a whole diagnostic on my car using his fancy computer thingymajigger. He was able to fix some stuff that dealer forgot to reset/update. That was pretty cool.

He originally told me the wait would be 1-1.5 hr to get the job done, but he got it done within 20 min!!! He was very accommodating and attentive. He was great =)

And finally, Steve seemed he really enjoys what he does. He has really good relationship with his existing customers (from what i perceived while i was there). He has a quite a sense of humor and definitely a passion for his German cars. I'm so glad I found him! Thanks Steve!”

“So here's the story. I own a 1997 bmw 328i that I bought from a doctor a little over a year ago that now has over 200k on it.

I made the sinful mistake of taking it to pepboys for it's first oil change and check up while in my possession. Long story short, it was a HORRIBLE experience. From the numb customer service, to the shoddy mechanical work.

So, after looking around on Yelp, I found Bavarian Auto House! I called these guys about a month ago regarding a simple oil change and the owner Steve was able to answer all of my questions and even recommended a few things. They were also able to take my car in the same day I called!

I just got done watching my car being worked on and even the mechanic was helpful in answering all my questions!

Steve and his brother are also very knowledgeable in what they are doing and even crack some jokes to help you pass the time lol

“Honest, upfront, and no upselling; these were the reasons why I chose to come to Bavarian Auto House vs. any other place with equally great reviews (and closer proximity). I had called the day before to ask some questions and schedule an appointment. Both Steve and Rob were very helpful and their brief, but honest and helpful, conversations was what convinced me to give this place a try.

I've always been a DIY or dealer service girl myself, but after reading the reviews on the service departments at ALL nearby dealers (let me save you the trouble: 3.5 stars for Crevier in Santa Ana (but bias toward their customers only/customers with warranty), 3 for Shelley, 2.5 stars for Monrovia, Irvine, and Ontario), I felt unsure if they would honestly check all the things they were supposed to. Approaching my 100k and no more warranty/all car expenses being out of pocket, I needed things checked and an honest estimate of what I would NEED (of course I WANT to fix everything, but that doesn't mean that I can).

In the end, I spent more than my initial budget but fixed probably twice of what I had expected to while also getting my car inspected. Now I can drive with ease, knowing that my car is all up to date. For my next check up (or, you know, indefinitely), this will be the place to go to. Parts and labor is also warrantied!

My favorite part about Bavarian was how Steve had me inspect my car alongside him. I thought it was unique that they were closed on weekends, but I think that's great, since it does seem like a family business, and that he would be spending his weekends with his family. On that note, I work in Yorba Linda and I recognized that their business had been left on my car. I hadn't made the connection 'til I took a business card at the establishment and matched the two! I definitely appreciate a fellow hard-working individual.

As my tip indicated, they have courtesy vehicles here (you should confirm that if you need it though). Make sure you return the car with the appropriate gas level!”

“I just want to say best place ever to bring your BMW once the service contract has expired.

Other repair shops need to mimic their service policy as I will return if anything else comes up rather than even looking for another place. Every other time after having service on my car I look for a new place because I always feel I am being screwed over and being screwed over for repairs on a BMW is not like repairs on a Honda!

I came in for a routine service and paid for a routine service AND THEN WENT HOME!!! No the sky is falling routine. No I need to sell a kidney. No upselling at all.

“From the moment I called Steve and his guys helped me out BIG time. My alternator belt broke on my way home from work after calling numerous repair facilities and getting an outrageous estimate and the usual 'we can't do anything till tomorrow' statement I called Steve he promptly gave me a price for parts and labor and advised me to bring my vehicle there. Once I showed up I was met with a friendly handshake and they promptly took a look at my car and quoted me a price to replace 3 belts. After about 15 minutes they informed me that my alternator had seized up causing my belt to snap. He then showed me that alternator would not turn and allowed me to try and turn it myself with no luck he then called and got an alternator on its way to finish work. My whole stay was stressful but the service relaxed me knowing that I was being taken care of. I left with a new alternator and three belts and enough money to buy a few Christmas presents for the kids. I recommend Steve and Bavarian Auto House to anyone and if you don't believe me try them you won't be disappointed. We have two Honda Accords and a Toyota Corolla and get all our preventive maintenance and repairs done here.
Sometimes if one of our cars is having a problem like brakes or power steering, I have had them diagnosed at other shops to make sure the car is safe or if we need to get it fixed right now. The last few times I've done this and then gotten the car into Bavarian, the quote for parts and labor is always less.

So, bottom line is no matter what kind of car you drive the crew at Bavarian will take very good care of you and you won't get 'taken for a ride' price-wise. Plus, I have found out from their customers who drive Mercedes, BMW or Audi have saved hundreds of dollars over dealer mechanic service, and the work is just as good!”

They charged me $159 to give me an estimate of $6000 dollars.... telling me that they needed to tear down the car to figure out the problem!

Well, It's not actually free it's just extra money you'll have if you avoid going to your Benz, BMW, or Audi dealer if you get the job done here.

I don't know too much about the repairs of this place, but I sure found a place that I can do my expensive oil changes.

So I got a pretty sick Audi, and I didn't want to take it to the dealership to get an oil change because it cost $130. So I took it to Joe who only charged me $80, which gives me an extra $50 to have some sushi. It did take 3 hours, but I totally understand that this place isn't a Jiffy Lube, and plus I was running around doing errands anyway, but it sure saved me $50.”

Joe diagnosed the car, then called us BEFORE he did any repairs to go over what was wrong and if we wanted to move forward. it's so refreshing to know you can trust your mechanic when these euro vehicles can be money pits if taken to the wrong shop.

“I own 2 Porsche 911s and 2 Boxsters. My wife and I refuse to take it anywhere else but to Joe. I've been to lots of mechanics and can truely say he is one if the most honest and well educated mechanics around. After speaking with him and his mechs I realized why they are good at what they do and good to customers. Joe treats his staff extremely well and provides benefits, his staff are all happy, takes great pride in their work, and looks at each other as a family. That being said Bavarian has always fix every issue most of the time at half the cost of other mechanics. For example I was charged $600 parts and labor to replace a Porsche coolant tank which is expensive enough already. However, other shops wanted to charge me $1100 parts and labor.

Another great thing about this shop is many of us have busy schedules so Joe provides a shuttle service so by the end of the day my car is ready and hassle free.

Finally other Mechanics I found will tell my wife anything and she will believe it since she doesn't know anything about cars. How do I know this? I had her turn on the recording on her iPhone and handed the info to the Bureau of Automotive Repairs. Joe however has corrected what others Mechs have told her and kept her from spending thousands in false work. So basically women who don't know anything about cars and not mechanical at all can feel perfectly safe and not worry about getting ripped off.”
